Part 12: Electronic gas metering devices incorporating pulse functions

1.0 Scope

This part of the Specifications applies to electronic gas metering devices incorporating pulse functions (e.g. pulse input, pulse output, pulse counting).

2.0 Unit requirements

Note: The requirements of Part 1, section 1.0 apply.

3.0 Metrological requirements

Note: The following requirements of Part 1, section 2.0 apply:

  • 2.1 Rated operating conditions
  • 2.3 Maximum permissible errors
  • 2.16 Supply voltage variation

3.1 Maximum permissible error

The error must not exceed a maximum permissible error (MPE) of ± 0.05%.

4.0 Technical requirements

Note: The following requirements of Part 1, section 3.0 apply:

  • 3.1 Design, composition and construction
  • 3.4 Case
  • 3.6 Flow direction
  • 3.7 Indication
  • 3.8 Output
  • 3.9 Power sources
  • 3.10 Software

5.0 Marking requirements

Note: The following requirements of Part 1, section 4.0 apply:

  • 4.1 Permanency and legibility
  • 4.2
    • (a) Departmental approval number
    • (b) Manufacturer's name or registered trademark
    • (c) Model or type designation
    • (d) Serial number
    • (e) Ambient temperature range, where less than -30 °C to 40 °C
  • 4.3 Bar codes or quick response codes
  • 4.9 External power supply
  • 4.10 Software
  • 4.11 Connection terminals
  • 4.12 Inspection number
  • 4.13 Verification marks
  • 4.14 Operating information

5.1 Pulse output

The following information must be marked on a nameplate or made accessible through other means:

  • Number of pulses per unit of measurement or the measured quantity per input pulse;
  • Maximum frequency;
  • Type and amplitude of output signal or contact rating (e.g. "form C" or "form A").

5.2 Pulse input

The following information must be marked on a nameplate or made accessible through other means:

  • Type of input signal;
  • Minimum and maximum input voltage (as applicable);
  • Maximum frequency of input signal;
  • The number of pulses corresponding to a unit of measured quantity or the number of measured units corresponding to one input pulse;
  • Connection diagram (does not need to be readily visible).

6.0 Sealing requirements

Note: The requirements of Part 1, section 5.0 apply.

7.0 Administrative requirements

Note: The requirements of Part 1, section 6.0 apply.
