New login requirements for CCAA, E-Filing and IRS and the addition of 2-Step Verification

The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) is continuing to improve its online services to better protect account information and make it easier for you to interact with us.

Secure Login

Recently, all Licensed Insolvency Trustees (LITs) using the OSB Licence Administration Application (OLAA) were migrated to a new identity management system at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) that uses GCKey or sign-in partner (Verify me) credentials. Soon, we will be enabling this across our other applications including:

  • Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) online application
  • OSB E-Filing, and
  • Insolvency Record Search (IRS)

With this new secure login, we hope to make it easier to access OSB services by eliminating the need for you to have multiple login accounts and credentials.

2-Step Verification

ISED is also upgrading its security systems across all online services and implementing the mandatory use of 2-step verification (2SV), which helps protect clients against cyber security attacks by ensuring that their account is protected from unauthorized use and the disclosure of personal information. The adoption of 2SV is in line with the Government of Canada’s cyber security best practices and is being widely adopted in keeping with industry-recommended approaches to reduce security risks.

What you need to do

There is no immediate action required at this time.

In the coming weeks, you will receive a notification via email, as well as on-line prompt on the website, when the new login service is available for OSB services. At that time, you will be able to use your current OLAA login credential (using your GCKey or the sign-in partner) to access CCAA, E-filing, and IRS system respectively as they are moved over to the new login service.

Following the implementation of the new login service, 2SV will be activated. All users will go through this new two-step process to verify identity for future access. Additional communications will be provided with more information and instructions on the implementation of 2SV closer to the time it will come into effect.

Information for your Clerks and Administrative staff

Clerks and administrative staff currently using E-Filing will be invited via email to create their new account using GCKey or sign-in partner, on the day that the service is available. The collection of email addresses for this purpose is currently underway. All LITs will also be notified when the service is available. Those clerks and administrative staff that do not receive an invitation will be able to use an invitation link from your OSB E-filing Preferences page which you can share with them. Additional instructions will be provided when the new login service is available.
