Administrative Information for the Oral Board of Examination

Scheduling

Candidates will be given approximately seven business days advance notice of the date, time and location of their Oral Board of Examination.

On an exceptional basis only, adjustments may be made to the schedule to accommodate conflicts; however, candidates are generally scheduled to appear in the location closest to them and are expected to attend at the time and place specified in the written invitation.

Cancellation Policy

A candidate may cancel or withdraw from the licensing process and request to defer an attempt at the Oral Board of Examination until the following year if written notification is received by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) at least one week prior to the candidate’s scheduled oral examination.

The OSB will process reimbursements of the application fee, at its sole discretion, for cancellations necessitated by circumstances beyond the candidate’s control.

Illness

If a candidate experiences a physical or psychological condition of sufficient severity to interfere with his/her test performance, before or during the testing session, it is the candidate’s responsibility to inform the OSB board member that it will not be possible to undertake or continue the test. If a candidate chooses to undertake or continue the test despite the condition, he/she must accept the test results.

If a candidate is unable to attend the day of the scheduled oral examination due to illness, he/she must provide advance notice to the OSB to the extent possible. Certification by a licensed medical practitioner may be required.

Assessment of Candidates with Disabilities

It is the candidate’s responsibility to inform the OSB as soon as possible. Information received relating to any accommodation measures will be addressed confidentially.

Official Languages

Invitations and instructions regarding the Oral Board of Examination are available in both official languages and candidates will be scheduled for an oral examination based on the language of their application. If a candidate wishes to be examined in the other official language, he/she must inform the OSB immediately upon receipt of the scheduling notice.
